What the plan should be: Pay cuts across the board for all politicians. Tax increase for anyone who makes a million or more a year. No more tax shelters, havens, loopholes or dodging.

The real plan: cut education, cut healthcare for middle class and lower, raise taxes on the middle class and lower, reduce taxes on the wealthy, pay raises for politicians.

I bet Congress and Senate don't have a problem with their retirement money.
But social security has a problem

Raising the debt ceiling does not fix the problem

The same body that decides the budgets and taxation is the one who pretends like it needs to put caps on it's debt limit. Just do some governing.

As a country, we should be spending out of abundance ... not out of debt.

The fact that McCarthy unveils his plan before the NY Stock Exchange demonstrates who he's serving.

1st budget cut; is to reduce each house congress person to states min wage to which they were elected, go ahead and include the senate, too.
Hours are 40hrs/wk with 1 week of vacation and 1 week of sick leave yearly. So like a real job, like the other 150, 000, 000 working Americans
2nd budget cut; loss of your health insurance and it will be replaced with whatever is left of O care.
3rd budget cut; custodial will now also direct any congressperson slacking off, for any reason to 1 month of toilet duty for each offense

Why not just freeze government programs and start slashing government departments? We're broke.

By any other name, it's still just "kickin' the can down the road". The disparity between the R's and the D's these days is like arguing the merits of gonorrhea vs syphilis.

Tax the people with the money. The 1% that has 95% of the wealth should be paying 95% of the tax

How about $0? This country would be better if the entire government, federal, state, and municipal were all defunded by 90%.

Excuse me, did anyone ask us? How tf can so many people pull together to vote on thier favorite idol, but we can't be bothered with government policies? There's a problem with that

I still want to know where all the Covid money went, and where all the build back better money went.

In decades past this used to be a simple procedural process. But now simply increasing the debt limit to ensure that the US doesn't default on its debts is treated as some huge policy/legislative breakthrough by Congress

Did he say President Biden is wasting time?? He must have meant to say he's so sorry the House Republicans took so long to act responsibly.

I hate that Congress is fighting over how much to increase the debt instead of how to lower it. We are making the same mistakes Rome made prior to their fall

It's funny how McCarthy talks about wasting time when a proposal of only $1.5 Trillion is a complete and total waste of time.
