Brilliant suggestion to try a trial for retirement with your current budget. I once took a 2-week vacation and didn't drive anywhere. I was absolutely certain my gas gauge on my new car was defective as it didn't budge one bit. I was worried about it being broken but it was only because I didn't go anywhere much and I didn't use a lot of gas (Hawaii's gas prices are one of the highest).

I also love that you brought up the fact that you may be ready to retire when you no longer identify with your work. I love my job but lately I'm thinking all the hard work and certifications that I have are no longer what I need to cling to, and my work no longer defines me. I'm OK just walking away. Your video has made a deep impact in my day today, thank you.

I checked all 4 boxes! Still have to overcome the fear factor, though.

My Dad is 80 years old and he's still a professional photographer. I assist him on his jobs and he assists me on mine. I guess it helps that we really enjoy what we do and working together. My daughter also works with us sometimes. And we also assist her on her photography jobs on an as needed basis. My Dad's schedule isn't very heavy at all but we usually have one or two jobs a week depending on if it's the busy season. I like it that my Dad stays active plus he's a wealth of knowledge.

Cyn, this video’s key points rang true as I have thought of them too perhaps in not such an easy to comprehend concise fashion. This 😢provided additional confirmation of my decision to retire in August… Thanks!

I ticked off 3 of the 4. Like most I don't have the savings. So, my job will probably kill me. At best I will have to work part time until I can no longer physically do it and then will have to rent a room to live in or move into my car.

I'm exhausted and want to retire but I need the money for as long as I can hold out. I'm working 2/3s time and it's still exhausting.
