As someone who worked in a funeral home. The sewage smell in story 1 definitely dead body. It’s like a gassy sweet smell you never forget it. I think maybe the second story he was on the phone talking to someone. Maybe trafficking?

As far as the door lock situation goes, buy a new doorknob from the hardware store and put it in while Luke's not there? (16:35 That's the right idea) I did that back in the day, worked way better than the stock doorknob and I was the only one with the keys. I mean I guess he never got the chance, the first time Luke left while he was there that shit happened.
