Massive respect. He's talking about it, like he just stepped into the foxhole a minute ago. This happened seventy years ago. These veterans, who have seen it, smelt it and stepped in it ...and shot back and survived it, they never, ever forget it. Or their fallen brothers either.

Nothing can explain or describe just how obedient and resolute those boys were...just imagine their terror as they approached the beach....no time to be scared....no words can describe that valour..

My grandfather was in the Pacific theater, Leyte islands. He didnt really talk about it except with me. I can't imagine the hell he went through, especially being a flamethrower operator.

My Dad was in the Marines First Division on Guadalcanal and Pelilu. He didn't talk much about it but he was always a credit to the Corps. You have my thanks and respect for what you Marines went through. Semper Fi!
