Use C# 11 List Patterns To Write Short and Expressive Code

C# 11 is introducing powerful list patterns. Combine them with switch expressions to capture the structure and values from inside a list or an array.
These two patterns will map an empty array in one way, but an array consisting of a single item differently.
But now look. A pattern that captures a slice with zero or more items from the beginning of an array, and then the last item, both as variables used in a subsequent expression.
How wonderful! Another attempt, and another trick. Using a slice pattern to ignore anything that follows beyond the first item in the array.
Mind that the switch expression evaluates patterns in order of their appearance.
Use list patterns to make your code short and expressive.

Does this work with arrays or with all collections? If it works with IEnumerable, how does it interract with deffered execution? Does it materialize the collection?
