This song just makes me appreciate All Star's actual lyrics and delivery a lot more, it kinda captures the experience of hearing the song as a genuine song for the first time instead of a massively overplayed meme.

what i especially love about this song is how it starts with the "some-", then starts immediately playing the float on instrumental. if that was your first time listening, horror would sink in as you connect the dots to what is about to happen.

This is one of those mashups that's so good it replaces both of the songs used in it. Now i'll have this playing in my head subconsciously when i hear the originals of "Float On" and "All Star"

Modest Mouse and Smash Mouth are playing gigs at adjacent bars. Steve notices that the "some" in his performance of All Star went well with the beginning of Isaac's performance of Float On. He bursts into the other bar and starts singing. Isaac is stunned and stops singing, but everyone else keeps playing.

i love that this mashup turns this into a song not just about a reassurance that for every shit thing that happens, something good will happen in the future, and also one that you're likely to find success by being unafraid to break the mold.

It is safe to say All Star is one of the greatest songs of all time simply because of how many things you can do with it and it sounds amazing. I like it more now than in fifth grade.
