So we're finally out of the office, today we're doing a video a little bit differently. I'm trying to find my thrifty style, so today we're going to look at the different films and simulations.

I think I've got seven to try out, basically going to go out, shoot and see which style I maybe find that I like and tweak it and sort of review it and go through it.

Today, I ventured out to Doddington Hall in Lincolnshire to explore various film recipes using my Fujifilm camera. The weather was typical for the UK—cloudy and drizzly—which influenced my experience with the film simulations. I had planned to try seven different recipes but ended up using only two due to the overcast conditions. The first film recipe I explored was the Kodak Royal Gold 400, which aims to replicate the warm tones and nostalgic feel of 1990s prints.

I found that the cloudy weather affected the outcome of my shots, making me eager to revisit this recipe on a sunnier day. The second recipe, Kodak Max 800, suited the moody atmosphere perfectly, allowing me to capture some stunning images that I was genuinely pleased with. I shared my settings and experiences throughout the video, hoping to inspire others to experiment with their photography styles.

Finding the right film simulation can significantly enhance your photography, and I’m excited to continue this journey. If you want to try these recipes, I’ve linked them in the description below. I’d love to hear your thoughts and see your photos if you decide to try them. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other find our unique styles in photography!
