honestly, as a telugu person, i was so excited for this release since all of the leads (except aishwarya rai and aishwarya lakshmi, who I haven't seen her work yet) are my absolute favorite actors, and I even read up on the story before I went to go see it. It was definitely enjoyable in the theaters too, more similar to a slow burning hollywood-esque film. But hearing all these tamil people go on bashing Rajamouli and his movies to highlight PS-1 is just sad. I was proud that the south was releasing such an incredible movie again, but didn't think that we needed to be divided with telugu vs tamil. Of course telugu people will enjoy a telugu movie more, our dialogues and stories are closer to us, just how tamil people have marveled at Kalki's story and the clever tamil dialogues. No one actively is boycotting this movie or bad mouthing it, and you've already seen how even if that's the case, it won't work (in high budget films like Dangal, etc.) And you've already seen how no matter how hyped the movie is, if it's not good, it won't play (beast, liger). If people are not going to the theaters, it's simply due to word of mouth, not from any reviews. Mani ratnam was my absolute favorite director, and his movies are just spectacular, but now I feel like it's not worth supporting any Tamil film if they feel that it's more important to bash our film industry to make theirs look better.
