Gordon is a champ in picking winners at Computex. All the videos were extremely interesting.

really love where the entire industry is shifting towards by focusing on elegance but also the same function. It's also really great for people just getting into the PC hobby because no longer will they have to be overwhelmed with the mountain of cables which, although is easy to deal with for people who have been building cases for a while, it is definitely overwhelming for first time builders.

To quote that one XKCD comic
"Situation: There are now 15 competing standards."
(But seriously, this looks cool and seem like neat features for people who like RGB. Hopefully there is some way to run the fans in a 'dumb' way that connects to normal fan connections, so that if the hub dies (and there is no way to buy a new one), your whole fan setup doesn't become e-waste.)

Gordon, the problem with this system is that you need patch cables to connect various parts and pieces. I just ordered a cable kit direct from Corsair and that order is showing a ship date of 9/18/23 which is two months away. Did Corsair not think people would need cables? Also, there is a double 90 degree cable that ships with the AIO but that double 90deg cable is not available for sale seperately.

Great idea if it was standardized. But let's be honest here, Corsair (who manufactured most of the peripherals on my pc) made it proprietary to lock you into buying only their devices to use this "convenience". Every company will have their own version and it ultimately won't make as big of a difference as it should. I have given Corsair thousands of dollars over the years because they make great products. That said, this will never be "One Cable to Rule Them All" because most manufacturers in all industries would rather lock you down through proprietary hardware and software than offer a great standardized product at a compelling price. That's why Corsairs products are usually at least 2x the cost of some competitors. It's a shame because this would be an amazing thing.
Edit: i obviously made the comment before finishing the video so a couple of addendums: the fan speed and RGB sync is super dope (stuff like this is why they have taken my money over the years), and i really hope they licensing it out to competitors works out but until then my previous point still stands. Now if they'd quit dropping support for not so old products they sold at exorbitant prices, and get icue to stop hammering my secondary hdd into oblivion (I'd really like to know why it's doing this!) I'd be a very happy customer.

so its not actually 1 cable to rule them all!

I can’t wait for that iCUE Link LCD attachment.

Imagine, combining this with the new Asus line with the motherboard connectors facing backwards, and even with this new PSU line that the cables are facing outwards, you could use smaller custom cables and it would be a much cleaner build

my only complaint is why not make the connectors standard, like usbc..also the connectors need to be 90 degree right angle

Not an open standard? That's going to be a nope for me.

Should focus on making icue work to begin with 😂

The reason why I returned all 10 of my QL120 fans and got Lian Li AL120 fans instead was because I could not unsee the individual leds and the dark areas between them. (I also saved over $200 doing so) I can see that these new fans will be no different. They need to diffuse the light better.

its almost like they could've used a Universal Serial Bus ...

If it forces me to use Corsair's iCUE software, I'll never ever adopt it. iCUE is garbage.

What limits it to be done entirely on USB-C? Power?

This is the last thing I have to try.. because the Corsair Commander Core and Core XT never worked for me. It's possible I guess I got two defective boxes.. in a row?
The only thing that doesn't work in my 500x case / 7950x /128fgb /3080 / H150i / ML120s / HX1200 build is... the Corsair RGB. Every single other thing connected to my motherboard works fine.

I'll try it if it is backwards compatible with my brand new ML120 fans and H150i AIO.
If it's not, Corsair is just wasting more of my time.

Now if only they could make the iCue software not suck.

What's wrong with plain ol' I²C and Dupont connectors?

Is cool. But, how would it work with water cooled system

This is such a great idea, but failed execution using a custom connection why not use USB-C on an open standard?
