I finally tried out the RR not too long ago.. I didn’t think I’d dig it really but after that session, I’m buying one for my home studio tomorrow. Honestly, minus the screen not being touch sensitive, this one is totally perfect for practice, streaming, home mixes, whatever. I’m bout it 🤘🏻

Forget the naysayers on this one. Great release from Pioneer! Bringing the cost down $600 whilst keeping the essential features of its bigger brother is going to be a huge win.

I am a proudly owner of a pioneer xdj rr and it's gr8, for a bedroom dj like me, it's more than enough

I don't understand all the negative comments some people actually enjoy all the features it has. The only effects I've seen a lot of club djs use is the echo all these other effects are just there for decoration. The RX2 is way too expensive and the booth output is not a deal breaker as I will connect this to my mixer that does have one. I don't play with turntables so no need for all the connections.

I'm really tired of Pioneer and the obsession with modeling everything on outdated CDJs. It's all marketing gimmick they've been riding out based on times when tech was less accessible.

Their whole strategy: 1. Make the gear too heavy and expensive for any DJ to want to transport. 2. Get the clubs to buy the gear so the DJs can play. 3. All the clubs then force the DJs to use the same gear so the clubs can feel like they didn't waste their money.

This drives me nuts. I get booked on the strength of my mixes and then asked to use gear that can't create that mixing style. As a controllerist, I have to prove that my setup is valid, which is just crazy, because it's like "Hello? You've HEARD it!" And I don't mean like, oh I'm using a controller... I mean a bespoke setup of unique midi devices... More of a live performance thing. My sets wander into live remixing and all sorts of stuff using fx chains, chopping, etc.

Same gear + same options = same-sounding DJs.

They don't do this to say, guitarists! "Sorry man, you can't bring your axe and your amp because we have a "club standard" set up". A good guitarist can play any guitar, but their unique setup is a big part of how they craft their sound.

I think trying to cram all DJs into a CDJ box holds creativity back. Blurring the lines and experimentation is part of what makes music such a fun, evolving art form and I think DJs deserve a piece of that too, not just a plodding parade of the same overpriced options in expensive new plastic packages. When we buy into this stuff, we reinforce those who want to tell us what and how to play and what our craft should look like and where it should go.

Anyway, rant off...

Omg I love the idea of this. I need a travel set and I think this would be good for small parties and travel gigs

What would be cool is an all-in-one system that rivals the price-point of the SR2, RR, Roland's DJ 505 etc - around that mid-range 500-750 price mark - That would be an incentive to buy it as it's around half the price of the "professional" RX2.

Comparing this with rx2 I still consider the rx2 are better value because of those extra features of rx2. Having 8 high quality rgb pads rather than 4 blue buttons, having full size tempo slider, better jogs, better screen with touch screen, inputs with dvs fuction is a better choice for sure. And price xdj rx2 costs 600 dollars more than xdj - rr.

Better off getting a secondhand XDJ RX 1 as its got more efxs and features at alot less price

Should I buy this over Gemini SDJ 4000? The price is almost the same though

Pioneer not updating the screen and no touch screen. Denon's screen is awesome. Do Pioneer reckon they cant be knocked off the top spot of club standard?

Your better off buying a used XDJ-RX. Plus you'll get it a lot cheaper.

well, i just can't imagine someone who really would want this. A bedroom dj can easily get a great deal with a $250 controller and rekordbox (often included), lots of effects and functionality for less money. The only significant difference is standalone mode but to be honest i'd rather go with laptop with all my library and a small controller to a small gig rather than taking xdj-rr, flash drives and still got chopped functionality. it's either rx2 which is a decent compromise or ddj series + laptop. I wish that Denon could come up with some solid statement on their own standalone all-in-one, mcx8000 is just not on the same level.

Cons: 1) plastic built 2) no booth out 3) no line in and phono input 4) lack of beat fx 5) expensive . I suggest users to go to DDJ 1000 or MCX 8000. For beginners, with a DDJ 400 and a laptop you can perform better.
