The 2025 Kia Tasman, the name of Kia Australia's next dual-cab diesel ute, has been confirmed, over a year after its trademark was filed.

Considering that Kia executives had teased the Tasman moniker in talks with Australian media and that it was subtly hinted at in a TV commercial earlier this year, the name is not shocking.

This implies that the competitor to the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger from Kia will be called the Tasman Sea. The sea is named after the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, who is said to have been the first European to see Tasmania. It is located between New Zealand and Australia.The Tasman, whose name was confirmed on a billboard that Drive happened to witness, is set to be introduced in late 2024, with showroom arrivals in Australia scheduled for mid-2025, as previously reported by Drive.

A 2.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine, an automatic gearbox, and four-wheel drive selectability are all set to debut with it.

According to rumors, Kia is aiming for a three-and-a-half-star ANCAP safety rating, a thousand-kilogram payload capability, and a towing capacity of 3,500 kg, all of which are similar to the Ford Ranger.
The 2025 Kia Tasman will be the first pickup truck produced by Kia, and it is a mid-size vehicle. Launching in 2025, the Tasman is anticipated to make its debut in late 2024. Popular mid-size trucks like the Chevrolet Colorado, Toyota Hilux, and Ford Ranger are the ones that Kia claims the Tasman is meant to rival.
