C-Axis is now engaged with a magnetic clutch controlled from the CNC
4th Axis is made from to old top slide that came with the lathe and is replaced with a solid tool post for turning

I really like this mechanical setup for your CNC. You did a fantastic job.

I needed one more axis plus I have an 8 tool turret, so I decides on casting a slant bed. I need the extra axis so I can machine offset cams, ellipticals, squares, triangles, etc.

I do have a 2nd version centroid Pro Mill board I haven’t yet used, so I was curious if it was actually 4 axis capable for a lathe.

Sadly I’d have to buy pro lathe anyways so at this point not wasting my time on centroid anymore for the price I may as well go with Masso and a touchscreen since its 10X the controller plus 5 axis and accommodates up to 5 spindles.

I ended up with Linux CNC (free), and a MESA 5i25 and a 7i77 and only a couple hundred out the door and I am considering other features later that only Linux CNN can offer.

Nice clean setup with some decent basic operations.

This is so cool! Can I ask what motors you have running for each Axis?

maybe You have a good awnser for is there a accuracy trade off with running the belt drives VS a direct drive?

Wow Uwe! Do you have any build plans you wish to share?

Can you explain the operation of the clutch? Is this engaged once position is found to provide holding torque on the workpiece?
Also when you moved the servo for the love tooling, did you drive this with normal stepper/ servo output? Curious how I will pull this off with just the regular acorn and only one 0-10 output.

Great work man. This is exactly what Im busy building but i simply cant figure out what controller to Use. Would You say that AcornCNC is perfect for the hobbiest that want to this fprm of live tooling work on a lathe? Was it difficult to get the system to work?
