What difference does it make if you have a gap and take a break for whatever reasons? It is really none of the companies business if you ask me

I’ve been told multiple times to lie on my resume . Company’s are not 100% honest with the job description why should we it’s ridiculous we can learn almost about anything online now, read up on it study it . I read someone would say “ at my previous job we had a different system, can you teach me how your system or program works “ or something along those lines and it’s worked for him .I’ve always told the truth and I haven’t received call backs . I don’t have the experience for a lot of things but when people take a chance on me I do everything possible to not disappoint, so I’ll study it, I’ll learn it, I’ll work hard, but that doesn’t get noticed . Ima start exaggerating, I gotta play the game or I’ll get played . FYI Obviously I’m not going to try and go for a dr position or anything like that haha 😅

I have a 4 year gap in my resume from a serious car accident that almost killed me with a semi truck. My leg was severed and reattached so it took a long time to relearn how to walk. Even though they could see me walking just fine every single interview I went on seemed to want to focus on this. they were obviously scared of liability. I tried getting a job cleaning pools I got so desperate and their main question was "what happens if you fall in the pool" lol. I told them first of all I wouldn't fall in a pool anymore of a chance than anyone else and second... I can swim. At that point I was fed up because this was like my 30th resume that week that was going the same way as the rest so I stood up in the middle of the interview and stood on one leg without explaining why lol. Now, the first year or the 4 years was not from the accident. My father was diagnosed with aggressive terminal cancer and I took the year off to help him while he was going through all his treatment. Many of these companies didn't give a damn. One in particular claims their reputation being a "family" company and that family is important to them. I straight up told the guy if he changed his mind and wanted to give me the job not to bother, obviously the didn't give a damn about family. I finally found a crap job at Harbor Freight to "launder" my resume so to say, so now I have about a year working after recovering from the accident doing a pretty physically intense job unloading trucks and being on my feet all day running around with heavy items which is not good for me at all because I will never be 100% recovered but still, I am hoping it shows that my slight disability is nothing I can't handle

Yup, heard "not a good fit" too many times. I've all but given up on professional-grade jobs.

Wow, this is a super helpful video. Good title too, since it described exactly what the keywords searched for. I've been sending my resume for specific roles for awhile without any callbacks. I feel like the gap on my resume (past 1.5 year) has been the main reason. I hadn't even thought about the "hidden job market" option. Definitely going to work that way too and check out your other vids.

Great content as usual! I reached out directly to a job post on Indeed and was surprised that they called me personally. I'll keep doing this!

I'm in the same situation. However, I want to put a gig work position on my engineering resume to fill the gap, but I think it may or may not be acceptable.

great lesson, I did not work during the pandemic but did online learning which worked for me. I have a question when employers say we are interviewing all week after your interview what do they mean.

Worked as a self employed tutor & telesales call, so I have good communication & interpersonal skills needed for the job of IT recruiter, I also have a degree in IT, the only thing is I have a 12 years of experience as a self employed, so once I faced a rejection saying that they are looking for someone who is under 25 year of age
I don't find any logic to hire on the basis of age, and even if they are hiring on age basis then that simply means they are doing perception based hiring not skill based hiring, I am quite sure that the company can increase it's revenue by hiring the quality candidates having good skills
They can do a floor test & see how capable someone is for that job

But sir my question is in case of 12 years of self employed gap how to get a job as an IT recruiter?

Sir, in India, if you don't go to job for at least 6Month-1 year Maximum, whatever reasons you say, then they will think twice thrice to hire you . It's bitter truth sir 😑😑

I have a 5 year gap because I was lucky enough to work my way out of a few mental health diagnoses without medication.

I assume this will be a huge red flag for Employers, when in fact they are the ones at risk for mental illness as I have overcome suffering. Literally there is nothing that can stop me now.

What if I say I was self employed, meeting a public need, and worked my way out of a job? 🤣😂🤣😂
People always say there is no $ in the cure.
