I know exactly the feeling when things don't work as expected. I'm in the market for a headphone amplifier, pretty much like yours. Reason I'm buying it for is amplify the sound that comes out of my television when I'm listening with headphones (right now, it is a little too low). BUT, I don't want to buy *strictly* to listen to television since I have a computer and would *love* to be able to use the same headphone amplifier to enhance my audio experience on my PC. Your experience is encouraging. Thank you for taking the time to share it!

I want to get my stereo receiver to bypass its internal DAC, and use an external one. My digital input is coming from my computer. Normally I have been using a USB cable from the computer to the receiver which has USB input. Can I just use RCA cables from the DAC to the receivers analog inputs, or do I have to use an external loop type connection. My DAC doesn’t have a volume control. Can I still use my receiver’s volume control, or do I need to get an external one? It’s all kind of confusing to me.

I love the part you stretching the cable but too short

Have you considered turning this into a comedy routine?

For the output on the back, is the volume regulated through the knob or is it regulated via USB on your PC? i want to use it on my pc, but i want to controll the volume through my pc speakers, and only want to use the volume knob when i have my headphones plugged in. Does it work like that?

Hello. I have wlan in one room. No repeater in the bedroom. Ipad works in the bedroom. Now I want to listen to youtube music, controlling by Ipad and playing through my bedroom vintage Kenwood hifi system. What do I need? A Wlan Audio device for 37Usd, no repeater needed in that case. Or just a repeater where I connect the audio chinch cables directly. Or a repeater where I do not use my Ipad but control it from my Pc of the living room. Or can I use my Rega Dac ? Thanks. Ps: blurtooth device would not get a good quality, so I prefer wlan. Amazing video. I knew that it was no preamp you connected and as I have a Pioneer timer, I thought about a multi input device but was not sure :-)

Hi! Thanks for sharing your video. I have a couple of questions. (1) es the Akai a preamp? why didnt you connect the DAC directly to the Pioneer amplifier? And (2) did the DAC improve the sound quality of your digital sources (PC and CD)?? I am just thinking to buy one of those DACs to improve my sound quality, but I not sure it really works (I have an martanz amp from the late 70s, and a Yamaha cd player). Thank you!

When you hook the dac up with rca cables is that unbalanced or balanced?

Creative and fun. Butt fer Zeus' sake, trim/cut out most dead stuff betwn plugging-ins and so on--but DO add a few words now and then for clarification*, such as "Now the RCAs go into the preamp inputs, and note that RCAs go into BOTH the old preamp and this new DAC. AND THE BRAND AND MODEL ARE *My ancient tube-type preamp and amp never heard of USB and so on! Would a DAC blow em up? AND was sound much better wit the DAC connected???

Sir if you're making an instructional video you need to take the audience step by step as to what you're connecting and explain what goes where. You just started connecting stuff and offered no explanation, not to mention most of that equipment looks vintage
