IIT Kharagpur under fire? Profs protest against showcause notices, governance issues, nepotism &...

A new crisis has emerged at one of India's most prestigious institutions, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, sparking protests led by its own faculty.
Over the past five years, allegations of nepotism, arbitrary faculty recruitment, and silencing academic voices have surfaced, leading to growing unrest within the institution.

"The institute stands firm on its ground nullifying all the allegations," said the IIT.

Is IIT Kharagpur losing its reputation?

nepotism in educational institutions dealing with higher education is always there. Even Indian universities are not out of it. Time has come to raise voices against these malpractices..

I am working at a deemed-to-be private university, and the situation here is in a dire state. Faculty members are trapped in an unfavorable environment. Over the past ten years, most staff have been working with the same salary, except few. The university is even refusing to issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for attending interviews elsewhere. There are numerous issues that need to be addressed to establish a sustainable system.

The present Union Govt is behind all of these....it's a game plan like placing people who belongs to a particular ideology. These issue won't make headlines also....not only IIT Kharagpur many more govt institutes..! Bada game chal raha hai ....Babu bhayya ..student log bhi ..phass rahe hai...iss chaal mai .! Congrats !

This is nothing new in IIT KGP. Around 20 years back in 2022-2023 a faculty named Koyel Chaudhury joined IIT KGP. Now she is the dean. Everybody knows how she got in but nobody protested.

Controversies in internationally reputed institutions are pathetic & were not heard of in the past. Authorities should resolve this issue ASAP amicably, otherwise responsibility to ruin the future of the brightest students would lie on the society together.

Save IIT Kgp from dirty politics which is a disease in West Bengal. Every good things are finished here now by politics. Please save the environment of studies in this prestigious institution .

IIT education at its finest! Forget research, innovation, or teaching—just wave the BJP and Modi flag, and voilà! Instant promotions, zero conflicts, and a smooth ride up the career ladder. Why bother with academic excellence when allegiance does the trick? Clearly, degrees and intellect are so last century.

Save Kharagpur IIT from the bad teachers . Remove all the teachers and appoint fresh batches. Old are rotten and engaged in politics. Bring teachers from other IITs.

Don't indulge in politics inspite of teaching.
