A violent and destructive post-fire debris flow struck the Xiangjiao catchment in China in July 2021. Scientists have now used numerical models to simulate the debris flow, which was triggered by heavy rainfall. The modeling could be helpful and provide guidance for predicting and preventing future debris flow disasters, the researchers write.
