Just like Sanji trusted Zoro to kill him if he turned bad, Luffy would trust Zoro to kill him if he stopped truly being their captain.

I don't think we can call Zoro leaving the crew because he doesn't respect his captain anymore a "betrayal". He was very clear about it, does his best for it not to happen with advices and by staying loyal till it happens. Should he leave and potentialy fight the crew, this would not be a betrayal but the natural consequence of Luffy's actions.

Zoro is the straight up definition of loyalty. and the thing that proves it wasnt "nothing happened" it was his speech when usop left the crew. that was loyalty.

Your clear cut explanation is the best, I agree that if luffy were to be betrayed, it has to be Zoro

Most valid reason:he founds out luffy has "Monkey"in his name.

Love the fact that the one to betray him would do so out of loyalty. That soeaks volumes of the Straw hats and especially Zoro

The saddest thing about Betrayal is it never come from your enemy, it always come from the closest one

I mean Usopp…kinda did? Like, I know he had (extremely valid) reasons, but he did leave the Strawhats, and even fight Luffy. Sanji sort of betrayed them, but ultimately he did what he did to protect the crew, while Usopp acted because of a purely selfish desire. I’d count that as betrayal, personally.

Betrayals never come from your enemies. There is a reason why they hurt, because you least suspect it.

Oda wrote Zoro's character so well he's often coming in first place in popularity polls

I hope people that actually think Zoro is a Pirate Hunter is joking, he did it for a flashback in 2 episodes where he hunted people with bounties because he got lost and had to buy food to eat

Zoro is literally the physical manfistation of loyalty.

I think we have come to a point where Zoro can never betray Luffy even is Luffy strays to a bad path, Zoro has become Loyal to the point of no return he truly loves Luffy as his friend and Captain....
