I think most of that combo went past ken and hit Momochi straight in his soul. I'm suprised daigo didn't catch fire and start melting the joystick with his dark hado. That was daigos most recent final form. Who knows what he's going to do with that capcom cup money on the line. Shits getting real this year...

I remember watching this on stream and I was speechless when that happened. I just kind of sat there and laughed because here I am, struggling with Ryu's FADC into Ultra 1, and here Daigo is, slapping one of my favorite players around like he's nothing.

I see some people treating this as useless, or how it doesn't make any sense to use it given the meter drain to damage reward.

Let me tell you something, in a game tournaments like that, Competition is very tough and the atmosphere there is really dense. Diaogi's yomi (Mind Game) when it comes to Street fighter is incredibly strong. This combo was not meant to give damage, it was meant to manhandle the confidence of the other player. And getting hit by a 25 hit combo in a competition like that, as you are being bullied for a good couple of seconds "while someone makes a training dummy out of your character", most people pass it off as "that was cool, that was epic" but have no idea how much damage it does mentally.

A regular player will lose it, but props to Momochi that even with that he was holding his own, the best he could. That just goes to show his mental fortitude.

Additionally, when you see the guy you are playing is pulling off 1-2 frame links perfectly in a sequence like its nothing, fear creeps in. You stop considering options you were before, just for the fear that "what if hits me with a jab, I am going to eat a fat ass combo" making you likely to make more mistakes, which player like him will capitalize on for damage (because Diago showed some other combos that are not that long but insanely damaging).

Moreover, its true that doing two heavy could have done a similar damage. But sometimes its just difficult to be sure that you will land two heavy before you lose. That is why hit confirming comes in, as its a safe option, but not to mention difficult to hit confirm with a light or heavy. You need really good reflexes to register whether the jab landed as a hit and then continue your sequence in time and with precision, its extremely hard. But for Daigo who is literally so good with hit confirms, he hit them with a jab so they can't punish if they block and if it gives him time to react and then he follows up with a combo to do as much damage as possible.

And players at diago's level, will play with your mind, make you think stuffs, to bait you out on that later. A good example of that is they will intentionally not anti-air some of your attacks in the first match when the situation was not risky. And the moment you try to do it another time thinking oh I got this and then bam you eat an anti air or a setup. They will play with your confidence. That is part of their gameplan and not just the street fighter nuances.That is one of the attributes he has as a SF player because of which he can be considered one of the best or arguably the best SF player in the world.

What impresses me the most is Daigo's control of the bar.
During the stun he starts filling it, and the hadouken fills it just in time for the fadc.

Daigo pimp slapped him in the mouth with his metal gauntlet and was like "GOOD SIR!! I OWN YOU KNOW!! GET IN ME POCKET!!"

Momochi sat at home with a usf4 setup, a punching bag with Daigos smiling face and even got Burgess Meredith on the phone and trained night and day haha.

FFS. This happened in my city, I was there but I had to leave during the Match Momochi vs Infiltration. But still, glad to see that the Stunfest offered such a level of Versus Fighting skills. At least I saw Daigo, Infiltration, Momochi and other famous players with my own eyes !
