I'm really looking forward to new CRT videos. There really isn't anyone left who actively makes videos about them unless it's repair related. You didn't seem interested in hooking them all up, but would also be pretty cool to see an Extron Crosspoint running that entire wall. Woo, the cables it would take!

And I know how it feels --- last year I moved from basically having my whole retro and music setup crammed in one bedroom into my own small apartment.

I'm also on the lookout for an inexpensive pair of small, shielded speakers for my CRT. PC speakers seem to be a safe bet but it's hard to find a pair that advertise that they are magnetically shielded as most people don't know or care about that kind of thing today. Recommendations are welcome!

Re: the speaker situation - ran into the same exact issue with my setup (thought I messed up my PVM and freaked out - thankfully no permanent damage). After a ton of research ended up getting a Q Acoustics center channel, which I can confirm is properly shielded and of very high quality. I can't personally speak for their bookshelf speakers, but I am pretty sure they are also shielded. Maybe check those out.

When I was In the military my wife called me while I was out training to tell me she bought a big flat screen for $40! I was stoked, and it's all I could think about while I was gone. On return I found that it was a big ass flat screen CRT. I was kinda bummed, but it was a great TV and I still use it today for gaming.

I agree with your curved screen love, I bought a very expensive Samsung QLED curved tv a few years ago, and it’s spectacular.

I had some speaker/crt issues recently. I had the genius idea of using my 4x12 speaker cab as a tv stand, which totally distorted my screen. Thankfully it went back to normal when I realized what I did. Then a few weeks later I had placed my Sonos sub a few feet from my crt without thinking. That didn’t work out well either. Moving it another foot away solved the problem.

It's because the flashing app is single threaded. You click flash and the UI thread starts flashing the firmware. Meanwhile the UI is unresponsive. Bob is correct, leave it alone. Once the work has finished and control is returned to the UI thread it begins to respond again.
