Five former Memphis police officers have turned themselves in and are facing second-degree murder charges following the deadly arrest of Tyre Nichols. I hope the officers just own what they did, plead guilty and get the max sentences. Of course, knowing the egos of cops, that doesn't seem likely. If there's a trial, I hope it's televised so we can watch them face accountability. There's no defense for what they did.

"What went wrong with the traffic stop?" is the wrong question to ask. These officers are charged with, among other charges, aggravated kidnapping, and that tells us that there likely was no probable cause for the stop or reasonable suspicion to detain him.

I saw the video. Punches and kicked in the head on the ground. Some defensive posturing, then came the baton to the belly after being picked up off ground. Picked him up off the ground and took turns punching him in the face. Similar to Rodney King. Never tried to put him in cuffs. I saw more than the five take turns. At some points other cops just looked on while 2 officers sat on him. He was no threat. Hope they all get life!
