I worked for two different for profits schools and this video is definitely spot on. We were pressured into playing on people’s emotions and even would sometimes be advised to place students into programs that we knew full well they didn’t belong in. Yes! They did hire more recruiters often, because the door is an ever-revolving one. Either you enroll and enroll as many in the higher cost programs or you are OUT! It’s pushy, bullying. We were made to call people as much as 3 times a day, everyday, until they came in or asked to be placed on the DNC list. You are made to act like you really care about these poor people and in most cases you DO ACTUALLY CARE, and want to tell them to get up and RUN! But it’s all a script you follow. They call it a “Call Guide”. You are to take very meticulous notes on peoples lives and used it to stick the SALE. That’s what this is, Inside Sales. We’re not told that initially. Lots of us, as I do, come from traditional 4 year school and think it’s going to be the same admissions process. NO! Run!

I remember that my mom went to a for profit college many years ago to talk to one of their recruiters (or whatever you want to call them). They used the same tactic, trying to tap into her pain, so that they could get her to enroll. They got her to talk about her age and how she was unable to land a good job because of how old she was and they promised her a career despite that.

The book "Bad Biz: Your Guide to Starting a For Profit College" by Corin Devaso is an interesting read. It's satire that shows how some colleges scam.

All these for profit chain schools need to be shut down. But are stand alone for profit schools any better?

That's exactly why I told many for-profit schools to their face I will never attend their school. only 3 for-profit schools have I ever looked at favorably and that is because they are the anomalies within kind of schools. Loan default rates can be manipulated by for profit because the us doe only analyzes loan defaults within a two year window, after which it would not negatively impact the school

This isn't true for all for-profits. I know many people that pay very little for their education from a for-profit university. And also, how can a regionally accredited college be negative regardless if it is for-profit or non-profit?
