It's really hard to explain Messi. It's been something that's bothered me his whole career. Something is just different. Yes, he has skill on the ball that's a notch better than everyone else, and yes that notch is like a chasm at these levels, but there's a whole lot more going on with him than that. He is on the pitch with everyone else, seeing all the same things. I mean, these are all world class athletes and students of the game with years of experience at the highest level, there's just no reason why Messi should be able to see something they don't, to anticipate something they can't. But somehow he does, he knows where everyone is going to be a good few seconds before they get there. He knows when and where space is going to open up before it opens up. He knows what the defender is going to do before he does it. I mean all of these guys can read the configuration and estimate time/distance and forecast the near future with everyone on a vector. But Messi has to see something else, I mean some of these tight dribbles through mutiple defenders aren't even possible if you were to literally rehearse them for a movie, but he does them anyway in real time. And not just once by accident for what will be a career higlight. Over and over again. I don't think people really understand how impossible he is. If we were to learn that he had some superpower associated with seeing the future, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
