I recently got myself an iPad Pro (2020) 11” Model sometime in June. I’ve been a Digital Artist since 2014, started w/ Pen Tablets. I wanted to buy something portable & easily accessible for me to draw on & potentially start or work full Commissions/Projects on. I absolutely fell in Love w/ it. I watched a lot of review videos & did research on what was right for me. If there’s anyone who isn’t sure if they want an 11” or 12.9” please go to your closest Apple or Best Buy store. They should have displays up so you can get a feel for the device. That’s what I did & man, has my drawing experience felt more comfortable. I still use my Wacom Intuos Pro (Medium) for larger projects, when I exceed layers in Procreate. I was very skeptical of the Apple Pencil, but man does it deliver. I draw almost everyday now. <3 Love your channel btw man. Concise & entertaining.

I'm a PC Wacom artist, but ordered my first time ever IOS device, with that being the iPad pro 12.9. I'm so excited to begin a new journey of drawing and painting. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it.

Thank you for the review, I’ve been waiting for your review as from an artist’s point of view I valued your opinion the most. I currently use a 2018 iPad Pro 11” 64gb and love, love, love it! I was wondering how much it changed with the RAM upgrade but for now mine is running perfect and I am getting new gigs all the the time and use it everyday for work. As always, BeeJay, thank you!

I found your channel looking for iPad 2020 info and now I'm subscribed! Thank you for your insights on this and the procreate tricks you present in your other videos!

I used to be a wacom/PC artist for around 15 years up until 2016. Worked full time with a non-art job and stayed up all night working on comics. The physical strain that ensued had me cut down on that and switch over to traditional watercolor. One day in 2019, I learned that the 6th gen baseline ipad now supported the pencil and my tiny budget was able to get one. The 128gb was on sale for about $349. It changed my life and got me back into digital art. Being able to hold the device in my hand like a sketchbook instead of leaning over a desk made drawing more comfortable and Procreate is the best transition between traditional and digital art because many of its functions are achieved through touch gestures instead of having to reach your pencil point for icons, launching menus within menus, or relying on keyboard shortcuts.

I involved myself in a fan zine project recently and their requirement was a 600dpi piece of a certain size. On the baseline ipad, that maxes Procreate to 6 layers. I tried working on the project on Windows, but the UIs to Clip Studio and Paint tool SAI were so frustrating that I gave up and watercolored the piece. Now I've been saving up for the 2020 pro to make more print-ready work and get back into graphic novel production. The extra 2gb may not be useable yet, but I always think the latest version of anything will last me the longest. The 6th gen baseline in the still keeping for trips and commutes because I grew up in NYC and fear getting mugged for my electronics.

I took your advice a year ago and bought the 1st gen 12.9 pro. I have been nothing but happy with it and have yet to run out of layers. Thanks for the review so many people get caught up in having the latest gear but I'm happy with the extra cash in my pocket at 425 with keyboard and apple pencil I paid it's hard to justify anything else.

Your procreate tutorials are the best, going from paper to iPad is weird and you’ve been super helpful - thank you!

I picked up a 10.5" iPad Pro a couple of years back after I saw the performance of the Apple Pencil. I was excited to see that Apple had achieved such an impressive drawing experience. Every now and then I find myself wishing for a larger drawing area. I will begrudgingly admit it probably wouldn't improve my skills, but dang! That large slab of glass sure looks tempting. I will probably keep an eye on 2020 model until I see a compelling price or I just can't resist any longer.

Thanks for taking the time to explain how the technical elements benefit the illustrator rather than just hyping each specification without that perspective.

Still rocking with my 1st gen ipad and love it. Im a hobbyist and it has been amazing. I would recommend buying an amazon recertified ipad. My experience has been top notch.

I think COVID-19 stopped the entire cycle of app developers having a early release of the new iPad to update apps. Similarly why there wasn’t an Apple event for the new IPad/Air. The rumour sites said much the same.

Thank you for being so clear with your analysis! The concise facts you add in really help like how the Apple Pencil gen 2 doesn’t work with nothing else but the 2018 and up iPads. I’m not the brightest so when I heard a lot of the other reviewers say it doesn’t work with the newer models I was not sure which ones definitively.

I just got my new 12.9inch iPad Pro 2020 in November. It is my birthday and Christmas gift for 2020. I did get the one terabyte because I wanted it. Plan and simple. I LOVE the major screen upgrade for me. I had the 2018 11 inch and the 12.9 inch is amazing. Thanks for the review etc.

Thanks for the review. I am a industrial designer and draw everyday for a living. Currently I rock an 11” iPad Pro and couldn’t be happier, though I’m going to have to check the 2020 out after watching this. Thanks gin, I dig your videos.

I'm actually working on a galaxy tab s6 simply due to the price of apple products in korea in comparison to galaxy, and so far it does everything I want it to perfectly.

Thank you so much for this review & all your previous on iPads from an artist´s perspective. I respect your advice & you have been of great help to me in making my choices throughout the evolution of these products over the years.

Thank you!

I have the 2017, 10.5 iPad and I’m extremely happy with it. I have to admit that the 2020, 12.9 iPad stole my heart and I ordered one anyway. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I have no self control. To be fair, I feel like having 2 iPads will make my art journey more enjoyable! When the battery dies I can just use the other one, for references I can have another screen instead of multitasking, etc.

Once it’s here we’ll see if I spent unnecessary money or not! Hopefully I won’t regret my purchase! 🤞🏻

I found this really helpful. I'm a high school teacher and wanted to utilize the iPad more for taking notes, editing materials, and more easily accessing them for my classroom. I also really like to draw, and have been really interesting in getting into digital art as a hobby (because I need to focus on a hobby than solely teaching, which can be hard to do as a relatively new teacher). Thanks!

Ahh finally someone not using paperlike and an unnecessarily expensive cover! I would probably buy that same case if I ever decide to get the iPad pro. Subbed x

There's a rumored second iPad for this year?! Good thing this one is sold out everywhere around me, because I almost bought one last night.
