A smart person would go and get another bolt, locking washer and nut. This one is obviously defective and would eventually fail when torqued to general torquing specs...

Step one: plug in angle grinder, step two: cut the shoulder part of the bolt, step three: take washer off of cut part of bolt

No hidden mechanism until you find the hidden mechanism. This is not a puzzle, its a gag.

The bolt's nub won't rotate w/ the nut. The overlap between the bolt & bolt's nub, locks the bolt w/ the nub. Possibly the nub's slight movement may jam the nut as a result of thread mis-alignment. Possibly less slop between the bolt & nub may disrupt the puzzle's "trick". I'm gonna have to build 1 or 2 to test.

The shaft turns inside the head in only one direction? Stabilize the shaft of the bolt by grabbing it directly, then turn the nut CCW. So simple.

2. You can pry the washer apart
