Alberta clipper storm system dumps a foot of snow onto Edmonton

In the span of under 24 hours, Edmonton went from having bare roads and brown grass to becoming a winter wonderland, as a foot of snow fell when an Alberta clipper swept across the Prairie province on Sunday, Feb. 25.

Environment Canada said it was the largest storm of what has otherwise been an unseasonably mild, dry winter.

The sudden weather change caused ice to form on roads before they were covered by up to a foot of blowing snow, and prompting the City of Edmonton to enact a parking ban.

Lisa MacGregor has more on the parking ban and traffic woes.

All these new reporters act like they have never seen a snowfall before.

If you find it hard to drive in, don't drive in it and leave us who can drive in snow with more space.

It’s a bit of snow and happens every winter and there hasn’t been much this year. When we get a real winter again they will want to declare a state of emergency.

Thank goodness winters are getting milder, that's going to come in super handy once I can't pay the rent, taxes or the utilities bills anymore and end up homeless.

It’s not the worst winter ever so let’s just be thankful we’re breathing.

Good. Alberta NEEDS IT. Badly. Otherwise it will burn all summer. Transition from a Long la Nina to a Medium El Nino pattern has done this for all historic records. Odd thing is usually El nino is about a year or less then 2-3 years to transition back into a La Nina, It looks like we are about to swing directly back into a La Nina as early is November 2024. Leaving for an extreme wet and cold winter for 2025.

I know I'm getting old when I get get excited for precipitation. As much as I liked the seasonably warm weather I know it's not going to be great for Fire season.
