a nuanced conversation about the alt bop house.

nuance is often forgotten about in conversations like these and it’s usually because people say the popular thing and that’s it.

As an alt girly I hate how alt culture has become a over sexualized it's become. Like damn let people vibe without sexualizing everything.

I don't know if you heard, but that 17 year old girl in the Bop House(Piper, I think her name is?)yeah, it was recently found that her Mom is participating in the production and selling of her Iewd content. When you ask "where are her parents?" her parents are in on it, unfortunately.

I think it’s so weird that people aren’t like concerned for the literal MINORS that are in these channels but they’re more concerned that they’re “posers” like man get your priorities straight THAT IS A SEVENTEEN YEAR OLD

I have absolutely nothing against OF, but using an underage girl to promote OF and branding it as a "fun collab" is absolutely disgusting.

As an alternative/goth black woman, I've noticed that the praise (and as a result, sexualization) of alt/goth women only extends to alt/goth white women, and you can clearly see it in the alt bop house with their demographics. Alot of ww got into alternative subcultures initially to cash in on the positive attention you can get from looking different or the fashion, but I never got to cash in on the benefits of looking different because people see that I'm black before they see I'm alternative, and it makes people in the scene have negative assumptions of me. I was either told that a. I'm "acting white" b. I'm a poser or c. it doesn't look as good on black women. I know I'm in these scenes because I like the music and fashion, but its so hard to feel like you really belong when the standards and aesthetic of whiteness with eyeliner slapped on are deep down still being upheld in so many alt communities online and in person.

To those shocked at the sexualization of alt culture, look around. Everything is being sexualized... all the time... and most of the time it’s with anything a woman can involve herself with. I agree with Kween that y’all are looking in the wrong places for what to be mad about.

This “alt-bop” vs. bop is the modern day version of the Suicide Girls vs Playboy dynamic that played out in the early 2000’s. Basically an “Alt” version of the same women in Playboy. They were all about “inclusion” but they mean as long as you are thin, white, tattooed and/or pierced, wild hair. Ask your elders.

As a goth girl who’s under 18, the over sexualisation is way too prevalent towards the goth community. I have people asking me in my comments to “P3g them”, “step on them” and to “drop the OF” even after telling them I’m underage. I feel like because of the oversexualisiation, other members of the community have their defences more up and instantly jumped at the idea of the “alt bop house”.
Edit: surprisingly no guys it was not ig it was here on YouTube😭

You don't have be on OF to be stalked by a creep who thinks they own you. It happened to me and I don't use social media except for youtube. No one is safe in this world 😔

I love how you talked about this tbh. I do pole so I know a lot of strippers and you really nailed it from what i have heard. The thing that gets me is that when people like nurses and emts are overworked, underpaid, mistreated, and generally treated badly they get (very desreved) sympathy, but when people in sex work have very similar problems they get the "what were you wearing?" treatment. The problem is worker exploitation and shaming people for picking an unconventional job is NOT the way out of that, especially when the alternative is getting a nine to five and still being treated badly but with less pay. (Obviously there is a lot of nuance that could be added here but its a youtube comment not an essay lmao)

10:11 i got called a misogynist and told i hate women because i don’t condone certain sex workers such as the bop house trying to profit off of the fetishization of goths. when i used instagram consistently i got so many messages from random men and replies in comments completely unrelated to what i was talking about saying “big titty goth gf” it actually boils my blood

People are correct that essentially a brothel goes against alt culture and values. Sex work itself doesn’t as long as it’s the worker themselves that directly and fully benefits from their work.

However the OF model is to sign up then get other girls to sign up under you. That’s why the BOP house brought that 17 year old in, if she signs up under one of them they will get 10% of all her earnings. The girls at the alt house have male managers and agents who are going to directly benefit from these girl’s work. That itself goes against a lot of alt culture and beliefs.

The sad thing about piper is that her mom forced her to be a child YouTuber from a young age so she doesn’t have anyone to watch her internet access

Thank you for pointing out the pattern of cultural regression we have been going through, not enough people are mentioning how we are really getting more conservative and it is alarming

0:20 You are absolutely fine, you don't need to be open about your sexuality if you don't want to. Sexual liberation includes being able to keep that stuff private without judgement as well

I'm religious and Bisexual my handle kinda says it all. Honestly, in my early teens, I went to a church with bikers goths and just about any lifestyles. That's probably why I'm out and proud and why my family is so supportive. Though everyone in my family couldn't fathom turning their back on a loved one .

I tried doing OF once. When people I thought I respected started talking to me any kind of way I realized its not what these girls make things out to be.

I feel so bad for the 17 year old :(. If she’s already making content as a SW then it’s CSAM, even if she isn’t it’s still grooming.
