I always thought it was a symbol of “balance” but from my understanding he found a way to use the force as a whole neither light or dark but simply the force.

Darth revan has to be my favorite character in the Star Wars lore, I mean dude went from good to evil back to good to independent, willed himself back to life and took on both good and evil at the same time. Dudes the goat.

Because as symbolism goes, it resembles where light and dark are in flux and coming back full circle. And perhaps the stability which comes from mastery where blue is similar but perhaps less stable, less learned.

In optics, violet is its own color, off the deep end from blue. Attempting to mix red and blue light results in a differential harmonic that more often tends to be pink (magenta). It isn't quite the same as mixing color pigments where Red+Blue=Purple. Also violet and purple are distinctively different at a certain point.

He wasn't under the influence of Vitiate till later on. He used Blue as a jedi during the mandolorian war, red during the jedi civil war, purple after getting his mind wiped and returning to the jedi. Then left to dark space where he found and got captured by Vitiate then started using red and purple due to his mind being split and him struggling between light and dark side Revan.

For me revan always used yellow and purple lightsabers as a master jedi sentinel.
He even built his own private robot hk47... Very jedi sentinel skills set

Revan has many weird variations written by many people. But the main reason anyone wields purple is the ability to channel both light and dark. And Revan was mainly a counselor (green) focused more on the force than dueling like guardians (blue). When he fell he mastered the ability to “shatter” control both sides of the force. And even for a sith he followed his own rules. When he was wiped by the counsel and finally realizes his past. He banished himself from accessing the dark again because he was afraid of his fall. That’s why he wielded a green blade again. In all reality Revan should have used a yellow blade(sentinel) because after his fall he was the most powerful Jedi to live. Being the only one to accomplish shattering in a long time (if ever if I’m remembering right). And he was equally great at dueling as he was in the force. Keep in mind it’s been a long time since Ive read a lot of the Revan books etc. my favorite Star Wars character tho, and unlike some I love the book that ends with his “death”. It really makes his life full circle as the ultimate sacrifice for the Star Wars universe.
