Cloughey is a lovely village on the outer Ards Peninsula coastline. It has an award-winning Blue Flag beach which is popular with locals. The village has a fascinating maritime history and I will share with you the amazing stories of shipwrecks and courageous rescue efforts. The coastline is an Area of Special Scientific Interest (ASSI) and I will tell you why, Nearby on the warren is a delightful array of wildflowers in Spring/Summer and you may like to know about their medicinal applications. Behind the beach is a brilliant 18-hole links golf course and clubhouse where visitors are welcome to play golf. There are also tennis courts and a racing track. We will end the walking tour at Kirkistown Castle on the edge of the village.
