What's the difference between first, second, and third person in English writing? These points of view will be explained clearly in this simple English lesson. I will teach you when we use the first-person perspective (I/we), the second-person perspective (you), and the third-person point of view (he/she/they).

1st Person Perspective: When we want to share our own story or talk about ourselves (Example: I was born in a small town in Canada.)

2nd Person Perspective: To give advice or instructions directly to the reader
(Example: You must follow my instructions clearly. Make sure you have all your equipment ready.)

3rd Person Perspective: To talk about other people's actions or stories, like in news reports or books. (Example: Carlos used innovative techniques in his paintings and transformed the world of modern art.)

I'll also talk about the uses of these perspectives and points of view in short stories, reports, novels, and other written works. We'll discuss the pronouns typically used in these writing perspectives. There will be a short quiz at the end of the lesson where you must identify the point of view or perspective of five small text excerpts.

SparkleEnglish how does my body split into three different copies (first one is my first-person self, second one is my second-person self, and the third/last one is my third-person self)?

I agree. Coordination seems to be difficult in some actions, not so bad in others, when we're young, or just plain experienced when you're at any age. Lol 👍
