Ooh Kyushu trip. Went to Kyushu last year, so yeah, I do have a few places to recommend:
Kitakyushu: Kokura (the shinkansen transit station) has "Aru Aru City". A lot of people overlook this, but it's an manga/anime industry mekka themed shopping mall. Not to mention, the prices are a lot cheaper for anime related merch when compared to big cities like Osaka or Tokyo.
Beppu: The 7 hells tour (a classic, but still impressive. I want your review score /10 for each). Next to that: Beppu Brewery (local specialized beers), Beppu Park (one of the better parks in Kyushu, not gonna lie)
Fukuoka: Visit the Yatai stalls for sure, it's thé thing to do in Fukuoka. Also: LaLaPort for the Giant Gundam (the show is underwhelming, don't stay for that), Hakata Canal City (the fountain show + Kirby Café). Ohori Park (only if you rent a bike and want a nice park to cycle through. Fukuoka has a lot of "meh" parks. This one is good though).
Kumamoto: The One Piece bronze statues. There's 10 across the entire province, one for each character. You can make it a chalenge: Rent a car and make it a quest to find them all! - Next to that: Mt. Aso (such beatiful nature) and Kumamoto Castle (it's open since July last year - first since the Kumamoto earthquake of 2016).
Kagoshima: Ferry+Sakurajima (tip: find "Portrait of a Scream!" while you're there). Also: Tenmonkan Mujaki. Thé place in Kagoshima to enjoy shaved ice.

Sakurajima, for sure. Enjoy the footbaths at the volcano while lookin at the city. And the nice mountain overlooking kagoshima.
