Been using Proxmox for years but I am now interested in adding TruNAS Scale to the mix. Would love to see more content on best way to implement that. Really intrigued by the idea of having TruNAS manage the storage and feed it back to Proxmox for use. Keep up the great content!

Interesting evolution. I came to Ibracorp to watch Docker app description videos, even though the base-OS was Unraid, and end up watching the transition to a similar setup as my personal Proxmox+TrueNAS home server which I have been running for a couple years now.
Also, I'm glad you are using the Weilbyte/PVEDiscordDark Proxmox GUI theme!

I bought an old server just installed a SAS controller card optimized for zfs and 4 8tb hdd's i now have to install the os the truenas proxmox setup looks excellent. My end goal is to run homeassistant and a home entertainment system but while googling up on the subject i found out you can do much more. Thanks for your excellent content!

Total psych about this series! 🥳 I already have proxmox up and running with a couple of lxc. I never got the chance but wanted to incorporate Truenas but I was a little nervous installing "Core". Since Truenas Scale appeared I'm ready to give it a try especially with your approach. I love Unraid and will always have that at the core of my HomeLab, BUT I love OPTIONS and Proxmox is no slouch. I have an open mind about what may come next. I have to remember I only built my first unraid server at the start of February and its largely due to this channel that I have a whole new set of tools and an understandiing I could only have imagined at the year start. The qaulity of the content so far on the Unraid side has been excellent so Im confident whatever we see as the channel develops will be equally good. It also feels kind of a natural evolution in the learning journey -guess its back to school! Looking forward to it.

Good to see there will still be Unraid content on the channel so looks like we can enjoy best of both worlds. Great stuff guys

Thanks for expanding past Unraid. I love Unraid, but have recently started using proxmox and I got a disk shelf that I was planning on using and passing it into a TrueNAS Scale VM so this is great!

Love the series and the channel. All the stuffs I'm trying to learn, keep it coming! I am trying to share a zfs running on a Ubuntu lxd in an OCI using nfs, but I can't get the ports right on Oracle cloud. Besides my Ubuntu lxd loses the zfs pool every reboot. I might try smb like you mentioned, and use lvm.

This is a great move. I've been using this setup for years. I'll even through one more for ya, I also run an Unraid vm. I have one HBA passthrough to Unraid and another HBA passthrough to Truenas scale. Used to use freenas then truenas core previously. I can't remember about core but Truenas scale even has the qemu guest agent by default (at least beta did) so you get the IP info and better CPU and memory stats.

Awesome video! Looking forward to following along with these series. I have been an unRAID user for 10 years now. I love the product and have 3 servers running, but want to reduce my footprint down and bit. Looking at running a similar setup of Proxmox with a TrueNAS Scale VM for the data. I have bounced around between Hyper-V, XCP-ng, Proxmox and VMware for a couple of years. My hardware is pretty old (Supermicro X9 dual CPU boards), so with the latest VMware it prompts that my hardware may not be supported in the future. I do like the Proxmox interface more than the others, and YES love that dark theme. Since I have two identical motherboards, cpus and memory, I am looking at setting up two node cluster for failover. Will start with one node and get it going, I do need to get new HDDs for the TrueNAS portion - looking 8 16TB drives in a RAIDZ2 pool, then expand with additional vdevs from there. That should get me to about what 2 of my unRAID servers have total. Keep up the great work you guys are doing, and see ya in the next one!!!
