Ancestral Ceremony

Показать описание
As demonstrated by Native Master Flutemaker Guillermo Martinez in the Shift Network course the Healing Flute, I perform an ancestral ceremony.
Wearing my Guatemalan huipil, burning palo santo and surrounded with my mothers’ woodcarvings which depict Mayan symbols I start playing a Teotihuacan clay whistle in the six directions to call in the ancestors.
The four kingdoms are represented as follows:
The Erath/Pachamama - Drum
The Trees, the Four Legged and Insects - Rattle
The Upper Realm - Flute
The drum also represents the heartbeat of the mother, felt by the foetus in her womb.
The loud drumstroke announces the moment of birth which sets everything in motion.
In gratidude I play my flutes, honoring all that my ancestors gave me.
