Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! For this holiday season I booked a round trip from Chicago to San Francisco, both legs on a 757-300! This is the first leg where I got a seat right up against the powerful Rolls Royce engine. Nicknamed by aviation fans as the "Flying Pencil", the 757-300 is the longest and largest narrow body aircraft in service. It is a magnificent aircraft and I wish more airlines operated them. I will probably upload a part 2, my return journey on the same aircraft when I fly back to college in January. That will focus a bit more on the interior experience. As such, this is my final flight of 2021, which despite COVID was one of the best for me when it came to aircraft variety number of flights.
Flight: United Airlines 683
Route: Chicago (O'Hare)-San Francisco
Aircraft: Boeing 757-300
Date: November 22, 2021

I know airlines are moving to BYOD for weight, but did they ever consider that passengers would bring heavier devices than the screens themselves? Like passengers who would travel with just a smartphone are now going to be bringing large laptops and tablets plus heavy charging bricks, and in the case of SWA (which has no in seat power) passengers will likely bring extra battery packs and portable chargers for all of their devices, especially on transcon routes. I don't think the execs thought this one through all the way. Plus AA, AS and SWA will NEVER be able to compete with frontier/spirit prices no matter how crappy they make the main cabin.
