Steve and Dan together are...the jackpot!

I love Steve Young! Dan Marino and him are my favourite QBs of the 90s. He was so gifted and would be at the top of today's league because everybody plays like him nowadays, like 4000+ yards, 500 72% CPT, 35 TDs, 10 rushing TDs, 10 INTs.

And ESPN let this guy go but kept trash like Kendrick Perkins and Ryan Clark on the payroll. And Orlovsky... Steve is an Encyclopedia!

Steve seems to be saying in so many words that today’s quarterback play is so much easier then when he played. And I couldn’t agree with him more. The NFL in at least the past 15 years, has done everything in their power to make the game easier for the quarterback, their most valuable commodity. Steve knows that Manning, Brady and Rogers we’re blessed enough to come into a more softer NFL, which is only become even softer in the years since. If him Marino, Favre, Elway etc. played in today’s game and had an offense that allowed them to throw as many times as they wanted, they could probably name the total yards that they would want to throw for.

I don’t know wtf is going on with Dan but I mean he’s always been a talented interviewer but these last six months he is just in the f-ing zone. I mean it’s like he has these personal anecdotes that lead into a current very relevant and interesting sports situation and then that presages into just some fascinating most fundamental to the game at hand insight. This interview being a prime example. I mean he starts about this dream like scenario of being on the sidelines at the end of one of the great cliffhanger comebacks ever standing next to a HOF QB and then that goes into this basic point about reads and progressions. And then what happens? Steve Young just tells you in such a vivid way how adrenaline and the spectacle and limited vantage point how it’s a battle to control and suppress that battlefield chaos adrenaline and how it can literally shut down your range of visibility etc. Just fascinating stuff really. I’m not much for awards and over glorification but right now what Dan is doing is significant and important. Dude is in the f-ing zone. I’d imagine that usually comes from challenging yourself and years of hard work so kudos to him and his staff the Danettes. 👍

S Young smart. Can only wish for more young, inexperienced QB's to hear this to at least justify what they're hopefully hearing from their own offensive coaches. "Processing" key word, can't do it too quick either! Excellent stuff. Great pro to listen to.

lol, per what Young was saying, I remember the video and audio of Shanahan last year yelling "Oh, the tight end, the TIGHT END' as Jimmy found Kittle at the back of the endzone vs the Rams. So, we all are susceptible to doing that. I think it was on the 49ers 49 hours video of that game. Pretty funny stuff.

@7:34 Steve talks about "processing".
Not being too fast ahead of the play and not being too slow to make the play.

Purdy, has this ability even being still very green as a NFL quarterback.
You really can't teach this.
I truly believe that Purdy is a diamond in the rough.
He quick on his feet, he's quick on his reads as well as he's able to go to his 2nd and 3rd options. And the biggest thing is he seems to always remain calm.

People who were hating on him, including the media. Need to start really analyzing his skill set and qualities.

If Steve young played today.
He would average 450 yards passing and 100 yards rushing PER GAME!!!!
