FIFO and GFS - tape backup rotation schemes

Data backup is essential to business success. Data should be backed up daily, but backup needs a lot of storage media, like hard drives or tapes.
On one hand, we want to backup data diligently. On the other hand, we want to utilize the storage media more efficiently.
We need a plan, a plan to reach the balance between data backup and the number of media used for backup.
The plan is called a tape backup rotation scheme, which lays out when each tape is scheduled for backup, and how long the data on it is retained, and when the tape is used again for another backup.
Today I will talk about two schemes: First In, First Out (FIFO), and Grandfather-father-son (GFS).
Playlists:
Business continuity
Cyber Attacks and Defense
Basic Cryptography
Advanced Cryptography:
Public Key Infrastructure

Remote Access & WAN Technologies
