Blackthorne Publishing licensed the rights to Transformers to produce three comics in the mid-1980s. The company produced 3D comics for many popular brands at the time. The comic books are not known for being very good, and they do not follow the continuity of the Transformers storyline at all. In face, each was created by a different team, and the artwork and stories vary widely.
