ORTF sounds like live music performance (a little distant) while X-Y sounds like studio recording (close and clearer).

I like the ORTF Best, fuller, warmer, , still plenty of sparkly details with the wolverine nails.. Looks like Shure sm81 mics.

I like the x-y better in your demo. It feels closer to the sound source. The ortf feels more distant. Could be the positioning with your ortf setup wasn't perfect though.

I'm guessing the double tracking technique is what pop music uses these days to make their vocals sound bigger?

All of these microphone positioning and technique videos are against a mono output source... not just this one but almost all of them online. It's hard to compare how they work with multiple instruments at once where is Stereo effect is more noticible
