Come on TFL, the picture for the thumbnail says it all. We load the machine all the way to the front of the trailer to show it to be tongue heavy. Then we put the additional hardware on the hitch and move the load over the axles of the trailer. There fore making it appear that the additional equipment makes all the difference. Moving the load back on the trailer will obviously reduce tongue weight and reduce squat.

I learned Very quickly how an improper load location on a trailer can cause total havoc on the road. I had a 2001 SVT Lightning with a 1993 Ford Aerostar loaded on a U-Haul rental steel trailer. My mistake was the van was too far to the rear of the trailer. All seemed good as I hit the freeway until a Semi truck passed and instantly initiated some pretty severe swaying due to too light of a tongue weight. I let off the gas and the sway subsided. Pulled of at the next exit and moved the van about 20" forward and the load was rock solid on the 140 mile trip. This video is so important and thanks!

One thing that would help with avoiding severe squat is using a trailer that doesn't take up over half of your towing capacity and max out the tongue weight when it's empty. A single axle 6x10 ramp trailer that only weighs 1k could easily carry that UTV. While the W/D hitch redistributes tongue weight, it doesn't do anything to relieve the drivetrain from the stress of towing at its max capacity.

I understand the benefit of Weigh-Safe style hitches as very few bother to accurately check their TW. But having a weighing device that is constantly getting bounced around cannot be accurate for long. I see in the fine print it's only good for +/- 50lbs when new. How long does that last? I'd think I would want a standalone scale that will not be getting all those miles under tension.

I have a weigh safe hitch for towing my 24’ enclosed car trailer behind my wife’s 2015 F150 and it works amazing. The truck handled the trailer good before the hitch but was a little front high. Added the weigh safe and now the truck runs perfectly level and pulls like an arrow.

So back in 2022, my 2019 Ranger FX4 had a bit of sway that started to freak me out but just as quick that it happened. The truck noticed and properly controlled the sway before it got out of hand. I was towing a Uhaul car hauler with the MKIII supra I had which was 3800 lbs. Definitely had more weight than the truck but it towed way better than I could have ever thought.

I follow you guys religiously but this was the first video I felt intended as an advertisement and I didn’t like it

Huge squat... The previous version of the Ranger Raptor Europe model, didnt squat so much. Any problem with that pick uk rear suspension in particular?

10 minutes of Andre playing with an app that he has no idea how it works. Then he loosens a nut and turns a bolt. "I'm pretty happy with this setup". Based on what exactly? That is a cool hitch, and one of my complaints of these expensive things is that they don't have weight distribution capabilities. I am a little concerned that TFL is towing all over the place and they don't really know how to load a trailer or setup a hitch.

Great video, try to make this kind of videos often they are really good for people who like to know how to tow and drive save with trailers

You should show the difference air bags can cause to the rear axle weight.

Having all the weight in the front of a trailer, is not only stupid, but can be extremely dangerous.

Just an FYI, the dealership where I'm going to pick up a new trailer (yet to be built) stated they would not set me up with the Weigh-Safe Middleweight, reportedly due to 2 catastrophic failures that had occurred. I haven't been able to verify such, and have seen good reviews by Wandering Weekends/Big Truck Big RV. I don't see myself shelling out $2, 500 for a ProPride hitch, so it's either the WS Middleweight or an Equalizer.

I really appreciate y'all covering a weight distributing / sway control hitch! Properly setup, these hitches make towing *much* safer. I frequently see y'all towing loads where I know the owners manual would call for sway control and/or weight distribution, and I hope the weigh safe sponsorship leads you setting a better example!

The weigh safe hitches are awesome for making the process of adjusting the hitch easier, and the app looks extremely useful! Even with the weigh safe hitch and app, you still need an accurate measurement of the weight of the trailer - but that is usually easier to estimate than the hitch weight.

With the Colorado, did you just put 1000# on a 750# rated hitch receiver?

Yeah this is sponsored content, but I’ve been using weigh-safe hitches for a long time. They really are some of the best hitches you can get. I just finally upgraded my weight distribution hitch to weigh-safe and wish I hadn’t waited so long. It is so much better than those cheap ones the RV shop wants to sell you.

I have sumo springs on my 3rd gen Tacoma they help with body roll, towing squat & off-roading. I only have them in the back I'm going to put the fronts on soon. I saw them on the grenadier you guys were driving so I was like damn I should add those to my Tacoma haha. + they make your suspension last much longer because it's not being used as much 🤷

The Honda Pioneer 1000-5 trail model you have shows a weight of 1, 775 Lbs. With Fuel and gear, you're correct, it will be approx. 2000Lbs. We sure love ours!
