One of the best monster fights of all time

I loved this movie as a kid. I think it's my favorite Harryhausen flick. This scene scared the shit out of me, lol. What always annoyed me about this was how the humans weren't helping the Troglodyte. He came in there to help them, and he did so much for them, but they just let him fight that monster on his own. It's not just that they should've helped him out of gratitude or sympathy; it would be the smart thing to do. If Trog dies, then they'd probably die as well, so the best chance to kill the Smilodon was to combine efforts. I still think it's stupid how they didn't do that, and only decided to fight when it was too late for Trog. He really didn't have to die. That being said, it made for a great scene, and I think the ending here was especially well done; how American Sinbad kills the beast. Seriously though, he looks like that dude from the Bee Gees. He wasn't a believable Sinbad imo. But yeah, I always wanted this to be like a game or something, it's such a fascinating world.

Is it just me, or did anyone else find it painful and sad to watch when the trog was dying. His dying screams are too painful to listen.

The troglodyte is probably one of my favorite Harryhausen creatures, just because he possessed a certain character to him that most of the monsters lacked. Plus, he and the Griffon from Golden Voyage of Sinbad were among the few Harryhausen creatures to actually join the good guys.

The Smilodon’s design looks pretty accurate a little bit even for its time

Who’s still watching Ray Harryhausen movies in 2023? They’re still awesome!

Out of all the Sinbad films this is my favourite one very smart the witch transferring her body into the guardian the Smilodon to avenge her son's death and I could tell by the look on the Troglodytes face he knew he was going to lose the fight

This is probably one of the best CGI’s I’ve ever seen. I’m impressed.

Goosebumps! Highly impactful soundtrack magnifies the feelings of sacredness of these movies to me and the ancient "mythology" they conveyed! This and "Clash of the Titans."

So when using a large spear to fight a super sized saber toothed tiger, it’s always a good idea to surrender the high ground. I shall bear that in mind👍🏽

Couldn't watch this scene without my hands covering my eyes as a seven year old at the cinema, I was trembling in terror then my six year old sister shouts "change the channel! change the channel" 🤣 the theater erupts in laughter 😂 she thought she was watching the movie on a giant television🤣

According to Ray Harryhausen's early concept art for the project (illustrated in charcoal pencil), the Troglodyte was originally meant to appear in The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad as the fountains guardian of good but he was replaced with the griffin. There is a pencil drawing of the Troglodyte fighting the centaur. Also the original guardian of the shrine was going to be an arsinoitherium until it was replaced with the smilodon
