The sheath in no way needs to be replaced for better functionality in the field. My father used his since 1944 in the field with the only wear bring from when his Airedale decided to chew on it when he went into a diner in 1967. I carried it today while bird hunting in 2023. My son will carry it when he hits 50 😊

My dad bought me a brand new Ruana when I turned 10 yrs old. Still have it. It’s way tiny for me to use well now but still a sweet knife my sheath is the exposed handle type from ruana. . Are they worth money now? It’s 32 years old now.

Nice review. I bought 2 Ruana knives back in the early 1980’s. #10B “Smoke-Jumper” ($30) and a #29A Jr. Bowie ($125). The prices today are way beyond that. You probably know that if you purchased this knife you are reviewing. At the time I remember vividly that they were making their knives from forged 5160 steel. I’m surprised they went to 1095. I feel 5160 is a superior steel. I still have both knives. Excellent knives.

That sheath is NOT impractical for use in the field. This guy is some sort of tacticool Rambo wanna be. I'm out.
