The real Ymir before she died. Free of being tormented like an obedient child and finally coming to her senses that she shouldn’t have saved King Fritz. She should’ve live on as a mother to her daughters who truly loved her.

Ymir is so beautiful! She looks so relieved like she's finally free of the nightmare that was her love for King Fritz. Rest in peace Ymir, you've earned it... 😭😭😭😭

This makes a ton of sense. Ymir regrets not letting the spear hit King Fritz. He was a wicked and evil ruler, who oppressed many people, including his children.

She would’ve saved countless lives in the future had she made that choice not to intervene. Mikasa made the choice that Ymir could not. Which was end the life of someone she holds dear, and loves. The most loving thing Ymir could’ve done was end King Fritz life, became the sovereign queen and led a more peaceful future for her kingdom and the rest of the nations under her control.

It would’ve allowed her to grieve him, and move on. While doing what was best for her people, which was end their war-like ways and aggressive colonial expansion.

I do love that Mikasa told Ymir to rest in peace. In all of this, Ymir was the biggest victim, and now it's finally her turn to rest.

For some confused viewers this might be of help.

Eren didn't freed Ymir from her real nightmare. That's what most viewers failed to understand. When he said that Ymir don't have to follow the royal blood, he only freed her from being slave to curse from royal blood physically, he only let her act as she wants without being controlled by anyone else to make her own decisions. Mikasa's role was to show to Ymir that the person she loved (King Fritz), was meant to be dead for better life of her and her kids to break the curse entirely. Because this curse is what made Titans appear in this world when King Fritz took her kids and feed them with her blood and flesh. Eren was aware of all that because of Founding Titan power.

Which is why when Mikasa saying that she believe Ymir's live to be a long nightmare, we can see that Ymir is no longer an unresponsive and impulsive kid that she was when Eren met her in the Path first time, but a completely grown up woman, a mother of her daughters. That's because Ymir finally realized that she needed to let it go, King Fritz death was the best outcome for her to continue living with kids. She was a slave to love and that's why she protected him with her own life. She didn't wanted to continue living because King Fritz was a manipulator who was only abusing her to his interests. And that way Ymir was a slave to love without any response from a person she loved. She made a horrible mistake and her live was a never ending nightmare ever since. Mikasa showed on her example by killing of her only love to which Mikasa was slave as well. Ymir was aware of that because she has seen all of it trough Mikasa and Mikasa's pain was oddly familiar to her.

Eren's plan was determined on knowing the future in which Mikasa will be the one to make the final decision. One decision that Ymir will see. Because of Founding power he was aware that headaches that Mikasa had, were from Ymir who was watching story trough Mikasa because Ymir also knew to where story is leading because of Founding power. Eren lied to Mikasa about everything to create a conflict which was meant to help Mikasa get over him, to not be a slave to love in order to kill him. And after Mikasa kills Eren, in that moment all true memories of last meeting with him would return to everyone.

And that's how Eren managed to break the Ymir curse to destroy all Titans from the world, making sure that his friends will live long enough to be happy, as he never could've been due to a curse and his determined role to break it.

He said it himself - he was a fool. He couldn't find better solution to this other than to commit to genocide because he always believed that world outside was all about freedom. And because he didn't had much time to think about it to find a better solution. Because he was slave to freedom.

Man, I love how the story was not about just one person. Eren, Ymir, Mikasa, even that Hallucigenia creature, everyone had their own roles and motives leading to this terrible tragedy. It just blows my mind how they all connect to each other giving such a great execution.

How can anyone make such deep storyline? Isayama, you Genius!

If I had the option to choose Ymir choosing herself and her kids over that waste of human flesh, then yea I’d 100% pick those over anything, even if it means Eren and Mikasa not becoming a thing at all.

I don't know how to explain but something about Ymir is so lovely.
Her appearance is very soothing and pleasing to gaze at.
One of the best characters, in my opinion!

Mikasa's headaches are surprisingly one of the most important elements and amazing plot twist in the story.

In the manga, it does a much better job of depicting Historia's newborn child to look like what we would presume a baby Ymir would be. The implication, that I always took from this anyway, is that Ymir closed the coordinates linking all Eldians after using them to being reborn as the daughter of the Queen, presumably allowing her to live a happy normal life after thousands of years as an immortal slave.

And as a bonus, what do you think the odds are Historia would end up naming her after her former lover, the Jaw Titan Ymir?

I'm not a big fan of the ending of Shingeki no Kyojin, but I understand why it had to be Mikasa. Every time Mikasa felt headaches, it had nothing to do with the fact that she was Ackerman, it was because the founder looked through Mikasa's eyes, Ymir wanted to know which path Mikasa would follow, because Ymir saw herself in Mikasa, someone powerful, but blinded by love. Ymir wanted to know if Mikasa would follow Eren's will or if she would turn against him, and in the end, Mikasa fought against Eren and preferred to follow what she believed in, this gave Ymir strength to do what she knew was right, but didn't do it because Because of King Fritz's wishes, Ymir abandoned the ways and took the powers of the Titans from the world forever. This could be much better explained and developed if Isayama didn't want to squeeze such a complex story into 139 chapters.

0:38.

If only this happened, there will be no anti-Eldian racism for sure.

In the manga that final shot of Ymir felt so bone chilling.
