There was one dude who fit the profile but they didn't get to ever arrest him because they were going off the handwriting from the letters. So MAYBE it could have been a female (the brains) writing the letters and then a male who did the actual killings.

This reading is especially close to my heart because I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s and live in the San Francisco Bay Area in a town where several teen girls were murdered and Zodiac is still a suspect. Though I was young I could feel the fear.

That reminds me of Gary Stewart, he believes he's the zodiac killer's son. His mother was 14 and the guy, Earl Van Best Jr was 29 and they eloped. He went to jail and she gave the baby up for adoption. She went onto marry an officer who was working on the case and that might be why they stopped looking. I heard about it from the podcast, "Snap Judgment".

the zodiac killer targeted couples (with some exceptions), maybe he felt resentful after a relationship, liked seeing men feeling powerless trying to defend their girlfriend or maybe couples were easy targets because they go to secluded places to be alone. maybe that's where the 2 thing comes from? but i can definitely see it being more than one person, or at least someone close to them knows they did it but won't tell, so it's a well kept secret between 2 people. i definitely think the motive for this whole thing might've been a female in some way

2 men survived the attacks:
7-4-69 Michael Mageau (gun shots)
9-27-69 Bryan Hartnell (8 stab wounds)
Both described a man alone attacking them & Bryan's was during daylight & the Zodiac walked towards them from quite a distance. The surviving men had very similar descriptions of the attacker.
If there was a woman, I think it would be an over protective, domineering, controlling, psychotic mother.

My friend’s mom claims to have almost been a victim. She was hitch hiking with her boyfriend at the time, and was picked up by a man who took them on a joyride and didn’t say anything. After a long time he pulls over and tells them to get out of the car and tells them that he is the Zodiac Killer and that he decided not to kill them. They ended up running to a farmhouse for help.
