It's real simple. You'll end up spending your life doing things for other people they would never ever do for you. You'll be lucky if you hear the word thank you.

Thank you for this video. I will be 70 this year and it is the first time in my life i actually feel peace and happiness within. I finally figured it out after a lifetime of charitable work, helping, giving to others, and the disrespectful, manipulators, liars, thieves, gaslighters, and cold hearted people were finally deleted from my life and im alone and happy finally. Doing things i enjoy for myself. Drawing, painting, etc. I do pray every day for those without boundaries who aren't grateful.

Being kind is free, but being nice will cost you.

You end up making enemies when you try and help other people out of kindness. Here is a real life example
I let a homeless man who was also a mechanic do some work around my yard I would pay him per job and I would let him sleep in the 5th wheel camper, within a couple of weeks I started to realize that my coverters on my cars were going missing on a constant rate. My batteries, car parts, tools and finally my forklift disappeared! Turned out it was him! I kicked him out and he got mad and has been coming back breaking windows, slashing tires, setting fires around the yard. I called the cops many times but he is always one step ahead of the cops! I can’t get rid of this guy! It’s been a non stop nightmare! All because I felt sorry for him, now I’m paying the price..

Be kind enough, you'll get respect
Be kind plentifully, you'll get abused

Even as a christian I dont believe in being over friendly. Be kind but dont over extend yourself and be cautious who you let in to your life.

I always say yes to my former friends of the past. They in turn took advantage of me like energy sucking vampires. I no longer hang out with them and kept a distance. I don't like repeating mistakes.

I keep being kind because I feel sorry for people if I don’t. I’m not overly generous to please people but I feel bad for not helping out when I can, that I end up depleting myself. I feel others pain too much, more than my own that I do whatever I can to relieve it.
I am aware people exploit it, and that’s why I am learning to set firm boundaries and use some time to engage in self care.

Boundaries, self love, and self respect!! I love helping people but I will not be taken advantage and unappreciated, that’s where I draw the line.

I’ve reached the point I am only nice to people I personally know or have a friendship with, and even then I have my guard up. I’m still kind, but I’m not going out of my way for people who could care less about me.

What once is a gift or regular favour soon becomes an expectation that locks you in and when you miss one time it becomes resentment and a thankless scolding for not doing it. No good deed goes unpunished. Is a true quote indeed.

This described exactly!!! What i couldn't explain to anyone who ever genuinely wanted to know why i dont make effort to socialise with anyone beyond a surface level, work, or neibourly relationship. Even my family i have no contact with any more .
Yes i am lonely at times & i struggle to do everything for & be everything to myself but the consequences of letting people in is to draining to risk, later only find its mostly what i do for them & how i make them feel is whats giving the relationship any substance .
Ironically, Its because of one sided relationships & family,
t hat im subconsciously inclined to people please, narcissistic individuals can see that.
Untill i can learn to kurb that side of me, i have to be a hermit or i run the risk of habitually giving more of myself than what i get back. Problem is now i give of a cold distant impression....so im told .

The reason I'm kind is because I feel like I need to balance out all the selfish and cruel behavior in the world.

When giving, I always ask myself if I do it expecting something in return. If I do, I do not give unless I can kill the expectation. For most of my life, I held back my nature out of fear of abuse, or being seen as weird. I have stopped and it has made me happier. I give and provide what I can and nothing more, and it's in line with my nature and the virtues I want to embody.

I’d like to add that receiving kindness can be deceiving as not everyone is doing things to be good but to look good.
