The Hijacking of Flight 601 | Official Trailer | Netflix

When two armed revolutionaries hijack and threaten to blow up Flight 601 unless the Colombian government releases 50 political prisoners and pays them a hefty ransom in cash. When the political leaders refuse to negotiate, the aggressors start shooting one passenger per hour and force the plane to fly across Latin America. Meanwhile, the Captain and two courageous flight attendants try to outwit the hijackers while negotiating with their local officials. Amid the imminent horror, the crew must fight back to return the hostages back home safely. This is a breathtaking political thriller based on actual events on May 30th, 1973.

Well, hold on to your butts kids. I found out that this is, as it says in the description box below the screen, very much, a TRUE story. Two men hijacked a Colombian plane (with a different flight number than from the movie here. Surprise, surprise.) and demanded $200, 000 and the release of 50 political prisoners. As seen in this Teaser trailer. Now for a couple of fun little facts: A.) There were about 84 passengers on the plane that day. B.) In order for the political prisoners to be freed, it had to be approved by the big boys in the government. But they weren't having it. They basically told the negotiators that the hijackers weren't getting s*** from them. Ouch. I'd hate to be the negotiator to have to tell the hijackers they weren't getting anything. One more fact and I'll stop: C.) When the hijackers were denied their demands, they made the pilot or co pilot, not sure which, take off, and fly all over in order to let the Colombian government know they still had the upper hand: they had the plane, the hostages and the crew. But they bounced from place to place. Shit, they even ended up in Aruba!!! Don't know if they actually landed there though. I don't remember all the details about that from the article I read. And now that I've typed too much and too long, for which I am deeply sorry about, I'll just end this post here. Bye folks!!!

I googled to see what this is based on. And found nothing pertaining to the date mentioned in the description. Even Wikipedia doesn’t list anything. Is this really based on another flight hijacking that took place another time or just the usual “based on true events” but really isn’t type of movie

this is very deep, it has some action and exciting scene, but that is not the main point of the plot, which really stands out from the usual action movie that i have seen. if you like the kind of movie that has some sort of depth or philosophical discussion, will definitely recommend. But at the same time, the plot is also very interesting. Same goes to the character depth. Just give it a try.
