I like the colour and shading of this ink.
SBE Brown is made by Diamine. Mr Brown himself has said so. I find Akermann inks expensive and the only way to get them in the UK is to buy them online and even then it means buying from Canada. It get's very expensive with the shipping on top of their premium pricing.

As you say Diamine Ancient Copper is a close match. It also has good shading and it's considerably more affordable. I use it in a Lame Studio with a broad nib which I altered a little, to get a wetter nib. As you demonstrated the wetness of the nib as well as it's breadth has substantial impact on the final, dry colour.

Thanks for yet another superb review with such detailed and valuable close observations.

Adding, as ink reviews go this rates at the top for me. Thank you again. I hope you do more inks.

For me, it’s all about nib selection. I’m not a fan of brown ink but thought that I would try this one. After a month of writing with a fine nib, I am ready to go back to my all time favourite, Akkerman’s Shocking Blue. 👍👍👍

You mentioned mixing KWZ Monarch and Toffee. Which Toffee? Rober Oster? Would you consider doing a video about how you mix your inks to get your favorite brown?

I purchased this ink directly from Akkerman in Den Hague. I am in Canada 🇨🇦 and it was very reasonable to import. Up to now I have it in a fine nib Parker and when gone, will try it in a wet medium nib to see a different effect. This is one of several purchased at the same time and all Akkerman’s inks are great. This one, I believe is made by Diamine if I am correct.

The good Doctor's ink reviewed by Dr. Fountain Pens :)
Nice review. You mentioned Toffee Brown in your comparison but didn't get to see in your notes. James Purdey & Sons looks amazing as well.
Europeans inks must cost a lot to import.

Hi
I am using krishna lyrebird ink with gama eyas with medium nib. The flow is heavy. I have to wait for the ink to dry up so that i could change the page. How to go about it. I need an ink which can dry fast and quality is better than parker quick.
Thanks
