The European Council has officially agreed that all smartphones, including iPhones can only be sold with replaceable batteries by 2027. Once that happens, the only phones that can be legally bought in a store, must have batteries that can be removed. In the European Union at least. The goal is to cut down on a massive amount of waste left behind from built-in batteries towards a “circular economy.”
