Transforming Neuromuscular Disease | The Future of Gene Therapy

"We know that children with neuromuscular diseases are racing against the clock. We can’t offer a treatment soon enough for any family that we see in our clinic."

It’s what inspires Dr. Kevin Flanigan and his team of researchers at Nationwide Children’s Hospital where they are working to transform treatment for neuromuscular disease. Dr. Flanigan is director of the Center for Gene Therapy and a leading expert in neuromuscular disorders. His team leads the field in delivering gene therapies that can treat the underlying cause of inherited neuromuscular disorders like muscular dystrophy. That's something that other drugs and medications currently cannot do.

"Anything we can do right now to change the course of disease or to change the progression of disease in a really meaningful way is the first step. And it’s something I really think we are on the cusp of here at Nationwide Children's Hospital."
