When I was a kid, I remember I was 9 years old, I only played for 30 minutes to 1 hour, the amount of fear and tension reached a level where I started to shake and I had to turn off the playstation 2 and watch some cartoons and let it go. Now i return to the music to have some relaxing moments, strange isn't it?

I picked these games up during college, and they helped change my life. I was depressed, and naturally drifted towards studying philosophy and psychology. This game invokes anxiety, dread, and self hatred like no other game has for me. My personal studies continue, and every time I return to the Silent Hill franchise, it acts as a Rorschach test, showing me things I never knew about myself. Having found meaning and purpose in life, these melodies provide context to my happiness, and remind me of darker more selfish days.

Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me puts me in a very weird mood, I just want to be left alone, lie down anywhere and just feel that I exist, but at the same moment I wonder what it must be to be forgotten... it's just incredible.

I used to have problems with anxiety (well, I still do but it's a little better) and I would play the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack while driving late at night. I believe it helped me. I would think, How terrible it would be to crash and die while this music is playing! ...exactly as terrible as if other music was playing. I have the responsibility to drive well, and that won't change if I'm feeling frightened or feeling confident. The dangers of the real world aren't predicted by a soundtrack. I believe this music helped me understand that reality exists independent of my emotions, so I can keep going when I feel an irrational fear.

My friend and room mate at the time bought the re-release of silent hill 2 when it came out despite NOT being one for horror. He sat on his knees on his bean bag chair super tense when playing the first part of the game and the first real jump scare enemy he screamed, threw the controller, curled up into a ball and rolled off the beanbag in one beautiful motion. It was the best thing I have ever seen to this day and Ill never let him forget it.
