Something I just can't get right. Why drum bus compression on hip hop/trap drums? Every time I use drum bus compression for hip hop/trap drums I make the drums more "peaky" - you can check that with an oscilloscope. literally, the very very first peak of the kick gets louder, which to my ears always destroys my balance. same for mixbus compression with this kind of drums. the dynamics get wilder which leads to more limiting later which leads to lower RMS/LUFS and a lower crest factor. those drum sound which we use are already compressed AF and have enough peak information. I understand that a real kick drum recorded in a drum room doesn't have that punch and needs more peak so you grad a compressor with a slow attack to emphasize more the initial transient and tame the rest. wouldn't it better to use clipping or limiting or more saturation on the drum bus?

Hey there again Mr. MixBusTv (don't know your name yet). Could you make a video on perceived dynamics in a very loud mix and how to achieve it? My absolute max level I could achieve was -6 lufs without bad distortions, but most of the time I' hit between minus 8 and 9 lufs which is okay but it lacks dynamics some times. This is when I slap on a multi-band compressor and dynamic EQ before final limiting. I might do it wrong thou. Your help is highly appreciated <3
