I've heard the Mannequin story before, but it never fails to spook me. Like- as much as I love these sorts of stories, most stories have explanations. But a random mannequin out in the woods, in the middle of nowhere? That sounds like a person trying to get their attention, someone they wouldn't want to run into.

And the fact that both the op and the dad were on edge the moment they showed up seems to me like they had possibly seen signs of a person and not noticed, but their subconscious picked up on the signs. After all, most instinctual feelings of dread tend to be the subconscious mind noticing something the conscious mind hasn't.

25:16 this made me put it together. If real, it was a mountain lion. They sound like a woman dying and while they sing carry carcasses into trees, what OP probably saw moving was the cat and then they hit the carcass it was holding.
